Elspeth + Adam

Elspeth and Adam were married last Saturday which was a beautiful and COLD winter day!  You might remember Adam and Elspeth from their engagement session this fall.  The wedding party and family members got ready in Elspeth’s parents home which was buzzing with excitement and anticipation.  Brett Dorian Artistry was on hand to do hair and makeup and as you can see, did an amazing job.  The ceremony was held at the Cathedral of Saint Paul and following the ceremony, we made a quick stop at Rice Park for some pictures and before heading to the reception at the Semple Mansion.  Needless to say, it was a fantastic day with a totally in love couple.  Elspeth and Adam: a big, huge, hearty congratulations on a simply gorgeous wedding and an admirable love.  xoxo.

Elspeth’s brother drew the maps by hand and they were so cool:

Hello gorgeous.

Patiently waiting…

First look…yeah!  Love first looks!

Loved the tennis shoes…smart girl!

It’s almost go time.

Beautiful church.

Rice Park…I almost froze my un-mittened shooting hand here but it was worth it!

They got engaged at this spot!  Or very near to this spot!

It’s COLD…RUN!  Those tennis shoes would have come in handy here!

It was warmer in the wine grotto at the Semple Mansion!

Floral Logic did these beauties:

And Cocoa and Fig did these beauties:

LOVE The Traveling Photobooth!

Also, a big shout out to Stephanie from Table 6 Productions who was a fabulous coordinator to work with!

Lindsay-Rae + Stephen

Our 2011 wedding season started out right with Lindsay-Rae and Stephen’s wedding on January 2 in Vancouver, BC.  Both the ceremony and the reception were held at the beautiful Capilano Golf and Country Club.  With views of the mountains on one side and downtown Vancouver on the other, to say it was beautiful is an understatement.  During the speeches at the reception, someone mentioned that Lindsay-Rae’s motto for life is “Go big or go home” which holds true to this day…get this:  Lindsay-Rae is from Canada, Stephen is from South Africa, they met in Dubai and have recently moved to Singapore, gotten married and are expecting their first child!  Whew.  Their wedding day was a beautiful celebration of their love for each other as well as the love that surrounds them from their family and friends.  Congratulations, friends.  We are thrilled for you and are happy to have been a part of your big day!  xoxo.

12.20.10 | blog, my life

Christmas card material.

Well, our Christmas cards have been designed, then designed again because I’m indecisive, and are ordered.  Whew.  It’s questionable whether or not they will get addressed, postmarked and land in mailboxes before Christmas but I’m gonna give it my best.

For a long time, I’ve refused to dress up my dog.  This year, I caved.  And I caved BAD. Santa hat, jingle collar AND elf shoes?!  Oh the shame.  After Ike looked at me with those eyes, I just couldn’t send it out as the Christmas picture.  So I decided to post them  on my blog instead.  So much better.

Because I know you were dying to see them up close.

2 minutes after the Christmas gear was removed, I found Ike hiding.  With the most pissed off dog eyes imaginable.
Happy Howl-idays!

Brianne + Aaron’s engagement session: blizzard style

When I say blizzard, I mean blizzard.  This was the first one of the year and it was cold, soggy, snowy and windy.  The perfect combo for engagement photos.

HA.

But I’m not sure anything could dampen Brianne and Aaron’s spirits because they are getting married!  In Fargo.  In July.  No snow.  And that is happy!  Especially the no snow part.

I’ve decided that perhaps the only thing greater than being happy yourself, is seeing those you love happy.  And though I didn’t think it was possible for Brianne to be happier that she was when I was her roommate, indeed Aaron has made her happier than that.  And fine, I’ll admit it, he’s a good guy.

A big, huge, congratulations to you!  I loved photographing you at this exciting time in your lives.  Thanks for braving the winter elements, though I’m not surprised since your initials are BA.  🙂   xoxo.

Candace’s Christmas Cards are Complete!

Hey party people,

I’m like dust.  No matter how hard you work to be rid of me, I just keep floating back into your life.  So, take 5 seconds out of your day and keep reading, okay?

I just wanted to take this important opportunity, while you all are gathered eagerly around me, and say…

B    O    O    Y    A    H.

My Christmas cards are done.  And they are cool and lovely and slammin’ and all that plus a bag of chips.  See?

Front:

Inside Spread:

Inside Flap:

Back:

Ready to be mailed:

Mailed!

If you are steaming with jealousy, I totally understand.  Because even I’m a wee bit jealous of the Organized Christmas Candace.  She is not someone I have met before.  And I have a feeling she’ll be skipping town shortly.

Don’t fret, the Christmas Card runway is getting shorter but you’ve still got some road to work with.  Let Emily guide you in to a safe landing.  I’ll leave you with that weird analogy and hope that we don’t run into each other at JCPenny and you ask me about it.

Love and candy canes,

Candace

The Candace is back

Hello there, Internets.  Emily and her generous heart, have invited me to to take up more bandwidth on her sparkly blog with a second installment of my jibber jabber.  Can you believe it??  So, here I am.  Dust off your Hazmat suits on and enjoy the ride.

Back, when I first forced our friendship, I confessed to you my current Life Fails.  Yes, you know what I mean.  Those delicious Christmas cards that are vital to keeping my epic fronting alive.  I made you a little promise and even though I am fairly unreliable, I followed through like I never could with my golf swing.

Emily roused us for a chilly, pre-work, morning photo shoot, which was a very fancy detour from my tired and uneventful life.  I was concerned briefly that I might not be able to put my friendly face on this early without colossal resistance (and coffee) but Hubs told me I looked hot in my own, runny nose type way, and so that was that.  I should let her work do the talking because, in all honesty, I talk too much for my own good anyway.

Aren’t they nice?  And I don’t even look like I am tore up from the floor up.  Hey, do people even say that anymore?

Anyway, Emily’s going to fashion these pics into something very lovely and I can’t wait to send them off to friends and family.  That way, I can keep my wretchedly stuffy and humdrum days a covert operation for one more year.  But before I bid you a good one, I’ll leave you with these powerful reminders of my awkwardness.  I’m sorry.  I hope we can still be friends.

Love and fist pumps,
Candace
