Hello and welcome! I have recently relocated to Portland, Maine from Rochester, Minnesota and serve the wedding and portrait photography needs of Maine, Minnesota and beyond. This is the place to check out my most recent work and to get a glimpse into my life. Feel free to take a look around, I'd love to connect with you!
Remember Kai’s birth day? Here he is just a few days older. He’s so stinking cute I can hardly stand it. As a side note, if you are expecting a baby and are considering doing a newborn session, I suggest scheduling photos 1-14 days after birth. Babies seem to sleep through/tolerate more during these very early days. : )
Anne + Richard had the perfect April day to celebrate their wedding. Their ceremony took place at the gorgeous Bond Chapel on the campus of the University of Chicago followed with a reception at the Palmer House in downtown Chicago. The weather, location, and all details of their day were beautiful but most importantly, the love between these two is beautiful. What they have is to be admired and celebrated!
This was Anne + Richard’s first meeting. Their expressions were so great in this series, I couldn’t pick just one!
Just pure happiness.
Here is Anne just arriving at the chapel before the ceremony started.
Anne’s flowers were stunning! Greta from Anthony Gowder Designs coordinated all the florals.
Anne, you’re beautiful.
I couldn’t help hogging the bride, that light was so pretty and just look at her! 🙂

The Bond Chapel is so pretty!
Married!!!
That’s a great look for you, Richard!
They had a cocktail hour at the Potter’s Lounge before the ceremony. Such a cool venue!
CONGRATULATIONS! We have loved getting to know you and were so happy to be a part of your celebration! We wish you nothing but the best in the years to come!
Lana and Patrick are so cute together! They came to Rochester from Iowa for their engagement session and we had fun shooting in the sun and then the rain and then the sun again! I’m so excited for your wedding in July!
Overlooking the Mississippi, Kael and Bryan were married at the Nicollet Island Pavillion on May 14, 2010. The week prior to the wedding was rainy and cold and yucky but when wedding day came around, it was perfect weather. In fact, while taking photos in the park prior to the ceremony, WCCO was filming some footage for the evening weather and we all made the 6:00 news! 60 5 seconds of fame right there! CONGRATULATIONS Kael and Bryan! We loved capturing your day and send our wishes for a happy, happy marriage!
Prior to the ceremony, Kael and her girls got ready at the Nicollet Island Inn. Then she and Bryan saw each other for the first time!
We had lots of time (and BEAUTIFUL weather!) for pictures around the Pavillion. 🙂 🙂
Today is May 19, 2010. Today was a day filled with anticipation, excitement, and celebrating : today you were born! I had the honor, privilege, and joy of witnessing and photographing your entrance. And though you won’t remember it, your mommy and daddy will never forget it. And neither will I.
I haven’t known your mom for very long, only about three years but it feels more like thirty. However, in these three years, I’ve gotten to experience lots of exciting stuff with her. In fact, I got to see her fall in love with your dad. I got to see your mom and dad get engaged and then married. I got to see your mom shop for little baby pajamas even before you were in her tummy. I got to see how excited she got just thinking about the possibility of having a baby. I got to hug her when she found out you were on the way. And today, I got to see her hold you for the first time and cry the happiest tears ever.
Kai Conrad, welcome to this world. Know that you are surrounded by family and friends and a crazy camera lady who loved you even before you were born.
I have had a photographer crush on The Image is Found for a looong time. So when I heard they were having a photographer photo session special, we just had to do it. HAD TO.
I was sooo excited about it until it was time. Yes, IT WAS TIME to be photographed by THE IMAGE IS FOUND! Commence freaking out. I stressed about what to wear. I stressed about my hair. And that stray eyebrow. Certainly I should lose a couple pounds and work on my tan. How should I stand? What should I do with my hands? Of course the weather will cooperate, right? I stressed out some more about what I should wear and then I panic shopped. For being a fairly calm and relaxed person, I pretty much gave myself 14 ulcers.
Then I had to laugh at myself. I often tell my subjects that it doesn’t really matter what you are wearing or how your hair looks or what you do with your hands. I take photographs to document what life is like right now. Real life, not some perfectly scripted scene. And let me tell you, we got real life. I was under the impression that the weather in So Cal is gorgeous all year round. Nope. It was cold and windy and rainy, did I mention windy? There was no chance of nice hair. And what to do with my hands? Hold the scarf down from blowing in Justin’s face. It was not the perfect day. I didn’t ever find the perfect outfit. I’m certain my eyebrows were uneven and I was far from bring tan. (Let’s be honest, I am never tan.) And I couldn’t be happier with the pictures.
What an awesome experience #1 to be photographed by people whom I look up to and respect and #2 to just be photographed. It was good to be reminded of what it feels like to be in front of the camera, to let go of the need to control everything and just be. Thank you Nate for taking us awkward people and making us look cool, or at least as cool as we will ever look.
Wow. The first post on my new site. Where to begin!?
I’m sure I said, “It’s coming soon!” at least 9589 times. “Soon” meant a couple months. A couple months turned into 6 months. 6 months turned into a year. A year turned into nearly two years.
I could list my reasons excuses for not completing it sooner. But instead, I want to thank you for your pressure patience during the completion of this project.
Without further ado, I’m THRILLED to introduce you to my new blog-site, that’s right, a B-L-O-G-S-I-T-E, it’s a website AND a blog! Handy, huh?
