Albums!

I’ve gotten a few albums in lately and thought I would share!  I order all my albums from Renaissance and I love them!  This is Lana and Patrick’s album.  It is an 8×20 and the cover is aluminum with a black leather spine.  This is pretty much the mac daddy of albums:

They also got 2 additional albums for their parents.  These are 8×10 with the same cover, aluminum with black leather for the spine.

Presentation boxes:

This is Anne and Richard’s 11×14 album.  It is black leather with three photo openings.

Harper

Spring is here!  And so is Harper’s 2nd birthday so we celebrated with some outdoor photos!  It felt so good to be shooting outside again on such a beautiful, sunny day.  As a two year old, Harper is officially a little girl.  She is walking running everywhere and talking up a storm.  I feel like she went from a baby to a toddler overnight and somehow, getting cuter by the day!

Mara Lynn

In the past year or so, I have watched several close friends become new parents.  I get excited every single time.  Excited about the miracle of new life.  Excited to see them experience love and life in a whole new way.  Dan and Kelli welcomed beautiful Mara Lynn on April 18 (lots of exclamation points needed!!) and about a week later we met up for a few photos to help them remember these early days.  It was evident how quickly they fell in love with this little one and Kelli mentioned how everyday things take on new meaning…especially songs like this:

When the rain is blowing in your face
And the whole world is on your case
I could offer you a warm embrace
To make you feel my love

When the evening shadows and the stars appear
And there is no one there to dry your tears
I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love

I know you haven’t made your mind up yet
But I would never do you wrong
I’ve known it from the moment that we met
No doubt in my mind where you belong

I’d go hungry i’d go black and blue
I’d go crawling down the avenue
No there’s nothing that I wouldn’t do
To make you feel my love

The storms are raging on the rolling sea
And on the highway of regret
Though winds of change are blowing wild and free
You ain’t seen nothing like me yet
I could make you happy make your dreams come true
Nothing that I wouldn’t do
Go to the ends of the earth for you
To make you feel my love

Congratulations, dear friends on the birth of your beautiful, beautiful baby girl!

29

Birthdays are fun.  I had one on Sunday! Here’s a quick recap:

1.  Breakfast in bed.  Yup…cinnamon crunch bagel and coffee from Panera.
2.  A birthday note from Ike.  Something about I ruff you…
3.  Facebook has revolutionized birthdays.  I know it’s kind of impersonal but I still love it.  An overflowing wall of birthday wishes can’t help but make a girl smile.
4.  Handwritten notes and cute homemade gifts.
5.  Crazy beautiful flowers from my talented floral artist friend.  (See more of her flower designs in this post)
6.  Turning our closet into a darkroom to play with my gift from Justin!  It is the Stenoflex, a pinhole camera and darkroom in a box!  As you can see my darkroom skills are a little rusty but it sure was fun!
7.  Dinner with friends and random 40th birthday balloons that seemed appropriate to take a picture with.
8.  Mail and fun cards.
9.  Ike.
10.  Berry dessert from Chesters.  Y.U.M.
11.  More flowers from J.
12.  Family photo!

Canvas Crazy

Alrighty, it’s my favorite time…yep, time to pawn my blogging off on someone else!  If you’ve been following the blog for awhile, chances are you’ll recognize Teri and her family (OK, mostly Kai!) from several shoots.  You might also notice that Kai has had newborn, 3, 6, 9, and soon to be 12 month photos taken.  This photo session schedule is part of my Newborn-First Year Collection which includes 5 photos sessions during the first year as well as a coffeetable book with images from each session.  But that’s not the point of this post….REDIRECTING!  Teri is a self proclaimed “Crazy Canvas Lady” and has the walls to prove it!

Here’s Teri (and Kai!)  Take it away!

I used to THINK I liked photos more than most.  I had photos in frames on my dresser, collages of photos on my walls, home made picture calendars for each year, photo albums, and I carried more pictures in my wallet than most put up in their house.

Now I KNOW I like photos more than most.  I still have frames on my dresser and on the shelves in my home, have currently 568 photos on my iphone, and I should purchase a terabyte hard drive for Emily to store all of the photos she’s taken of my family in the last 5 years!

Not only has she taken photos of my most treasured moment’s, (here and here and here) but she’s encouraged me to try new ways of displaying them.  Thus, bringing me to my canvas addiction…

We started with a few canvases of Moxy!

A 10 x 20 and three 6 x 6 cubes:

Then with a little nudge…. “are you sure it won’t be too big?!?”

…a 20 x 24 of my favorite engagement session photo with Mike:

Then I went a little bigger with a 30×40 of our favorite wedding photo.   A canvas of Kai at his 3 month photo shoot was added as a complement.  Both are taken on the same couch at the Rochester Art Center.

Then…. I needed something as breath taking as the photo taken on Fort Myers Beach for Kai’s 6 month shoot.  Well….this 40 x 60 canvas takes your breath away that’s for sure!

And then the latest 24 x 36 canvas to document Kai’s obsession with showers at his 9 month shoot.

I admit, I’m a canvas crazy…..the bigger the better!  I guarantee you’ll fall in love if you try one at your house!  What better way to decorate your home than with art you can call your very own!  I only hope I don’t run out of walls!
